Don Julio Kosher Merlot, Central Valley
A kosher mevushal wine (Orthodox Union) made from Merlot by Luis Felipe Edwards. The grape juice is flash-pasteurised before fermentation and the whole process is overseen by a Rabbi and his team. The nose shows notes of black cherry and plum, with a pinch of spice. The wine is briefly aged in a mixture of French and American oak barrels contributing to its smooth finish.

ABOUT THE WINE
This fabulous red wine by Luis Felipe Edwards originates from the Central Valley. This wine is exclusive to Matthew Clark so you won't find it at multiple retailers. Available in 75cl bottles, imported by Luis Felipe Edwards. Don Julio Kosher Merlot is a mouth-watering wine, made from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. This screwcap wine is created with added sulphites. The wine is one of a growing number in our list that can be enjoyed by vegan drinkers. A great all-rounder, as good with Mediterranean dishes as with spicy food or a roast beef.
Merlot produces medium bodied, fleshy, juicy wines with round tannins. Often seen as a single varietal, or in a blend with Cabernet Sauvignon to take the hard edges off. Its grown all over the world and commercially one of the most important red grapes in the on-trade.
